November 20, 2007 - Stick Mechanism

As far as I know, the instructions never really say when to rivet the center covers on.  I figured now is as good as time as any.  I clecoed them on. 
 
Then pop-riveted them with LP4-3s. 
 
 Next I bolted the elevator forward push-rod to the stick mechanism.  This type of work is always a bear, especially getting the washers in.  What makes it difficult is having to lean over the side of the fuselage while trying to get your fingers down in there.
 
I greased the bushings with white lithium grease, then bolted the sticks to the stick mechanism. 
 
Both sticks done; however, I still have to do the lower cross-support.
 

I bought the washer insertion tool a long time ago especially for this type of work.  It's hard enough even with specialty tools like this.
