November 13, 2007 - Cut Sticks, route Wires |
||||||
While I'm waiting for some wiring stuff to arrive, I started on the lengthy list of miscellaneous items that need to get done. As you can see, the stick grips will not clear the panel. I measured to see how much I will have to cut off the sticks. Turns out since the pilots grip is larger than the passengers grip (because of the elevator trim hat switch) I have to cut more off the pilot's stick. You can be sure I double-checked the measurements on this one before I cut. |

I put the sticks in the vise and went at them with a hack saw. My measurements were good. They came out great with just the right amount of clearance under the panel. |

I worked on getting the wire bundles
looking presentable. I started by tie-wrapping them every six inches
or so. Amazing how a little tiddying up improves the look. I
still need to secure the bunches against the rib
somehow.

Next I worked on organizing te wires further forward. I have to keep the wires down low so they don't interfere with the elevator forward push-rod.
Bundling the wires forward of the main
spar. Signal wires on the right, power on the
left.

I can't believe how many wires I'm ending up with.
