Dec 15, 2013 - Wingtip Ribs Continued |

These triangular supports are required to support the horizontal piece on the vertical wingtip rib. Yes, I too was surprised at how many I had to make.
These little triangular gussets are also required.
The horizontal pieces required notches in the bottom to fit on the vertical wingtip ribs.
A better look at the notches.
An even closer look. | ||||||
The horizontal piece curves to follow the vertical rib curvature. But how do I fix it in place to glue it? The plans provide no guidance. Time to get creative. I decided I would try gluing the bottom triangular gussets in place first. Hopefully that will provide a base to fix the horizontal piece to. |

Looking straight down.
Trial-fitting the horizontal piece to the vertical rib. Some trimming was required to get a good fit.
I glued two triangular wedges running near the front so that the horizontal piece front fits snugly into a slot.
All six vertical ribs. The first one is ready for gluing the horizontal piece.
