July 15, 2014 - Varnish Webs and Ladders |

The next step was to varnish the inside of the spar ladders and webs. Since I was using PolyFiber Epoxy Varnish which emits highly flammable fumes, I figured it would not be good idea to apply it in the basement right next to the furnace pilot light. I moved the ladders and webs into the garage for a few days.
The plans called for three coats, so I did a coat a night. It took took way more time than I thought. Fortunately Lynnette volunteered to help. Even with both of us working, it still took two hours to lay down one coat.
Having fun applying epoxy varnish.

The epoxy varnish is a two-part system, which gets thinned by reducer.
A few nights later, all done!
