September 18, 2010 - Essex Skypark Wings and Wheels Fly-In

Yes, it is that time of the year again:  the annual Essex Skypark Wings and Wheels Fly-In.

You couldn't have asked for better weather and we had quite a few airplanes fly-in.  There were also almost 100 custom and show cars on hand as well.  I ended up spending most of the fly-ins giving rides in the RV and did not take a single picture!  The following photos are from the Essex Skypark website.

I took the RV up for a quick hop before the fly-in got started.

This big Stearman flew in.

We don't get too many twins flying in to Essex.

Two Trunk Monkeys -- Mark and Dick -- in the pattern.

Attendees parked on the south side of the Skypark.

Mike R. arriving in his RV-4.

One RV from Carroll County airport and another from Clearview.

A Southwest 737 on the overhead approach, ready to break.  Just kidding.  The Baltimore-Washington International airport Class B airspace starts 1500 feet above Essex Skypark.

Bruce B.  gave lots of rides in the Cub.

Bruce R. doing a low-pass in "Mugsy".

Musgy's going veritical!  Smoke On!

Between giving rides, I managed to join Dragon flight for a couple of fly-bys.  Mike R. was lead, with Jolly and myself -- both 7's -- on the wings.

Dragon Flight over Essex Skypark.  Mike just starting his break.

Tom K. doing a steep takeoff in the Maule.

Lots of neat cars.

Under the hood.

A low-rider going crazy ...

Nice ride!

But can it do 200mph ...

Taxiing out with a passenger.  I gave a number of rides to people who had never been in a light aircraft.  For one gentleman, it was the first time he had ever been in an airplane ... period!  He loved seeing someplace he had lived his entire life from the air for the first time.

Climbing out.

Another successful Wings and Wheels Fly-In for Essex Skypark.
