October 22, 2004 - Left Wing

I'm really hitting it hard, trying to get the left wing finished by the end of the month. I'd like to get both wings done by the end of the year.

Here are all the landing lights components. Mounting bracket at the top. Halligen light on the right. Pexiglass, cut to shape and covered with blue masking tape to prevent scratches, on the left.

A better look at the hole in the leading edge.
The instructions have you make a handle out of packing tape. It's purpose is to pull the pexiglass tight against the inside of the leading edge, so you can match drill holes in the pexiglass.
Mission accomplished. The pexiglass is now clecoed to the leading edge.
After installing a few nutplates and polishing the plastic, I screwed the lamp to the bracket, the bracket to the leading edge ribs, and the pexiglass cover to the leading edge skin. Here is the finished product.
From another angle. I was pleased with how it came out. Took me roughly eight hours. The right wing landing light will go faster since I'm a vet now.
