July 8, 2007 - Panel

Work continues on the panel.  I countersunk the 3/32 holes around the stack.
My next task was to see where the center subpanel needed cutting so the long SL-60 Comm/GPS unit could slide through it.  I put the panel back on the airplane.
I clecoed the stack angles to the panel, then bolted the bottom GTX-327 rack to the angles.  This would have been easier had I done it before screwing the panel on -- next time I'll know better.  I had to bolt the 327 rack so it was rigid.  Then I slid the SL-60 rack on top of the 327 rack, and marked the subpanel with a Sharpie.
Better look from the side.
Back to the mapbox.  I fitted the little .025 1/2 x 1/2 angles to the right subpanel and drilled them.
The vertical angles go on the front of the subpanel; the horizontal angles go on the back.
I removed the center subpanel and cut out the rectangular hole.  First with the Unibit, then with the jigsaw.
