October 5, 2005 - Livermore, CA

I was in Northern California for two weeks for work.  I was working a couple of miles away from Livermore Airport, which happened to be where I soloed 29 years ago!  After work, I drove out to the airport and checked it out.

The airport is pretty much as I remember it.  That's the tower there on the left.

This is the ramp where my instructor jumped out and told me to do three full-stop take off and landings.  I still remember vividly the feeling of flying the plane alone for the first time.

Although I didn't like the California traffic, I will say that the weather was fantastic.  The weather was as pictured for every one of the thirteen days I was there.  Blue skies, light winds, shirt-sleeve temperature.  I could have flown my Citabria here every day.  And those empty, rolling golden-brown hills!  You're talking some seriously good flying.
