July 28, 2008 - Cub and Baby Ace Restoration

Stopped by Bruce's house to check out the progress on his Cub and Baby Ace restoration projects.

Here is the Baby Ace fuselage.  He powder-blasted the frame, then epoxied it with the nice shade of blue.  He's covered the empennage.

The panel is amazing, when you consider what it was before.  That's a Garmin 295 in an AirGizmo mount.  It's the same 295 that showed us the way in the Citabria for many years.  I really like the panel layout -- simple and elegant.  It has everything you need for day VFR.

Bruce made these nice looking floorboards.

The Baby Ace had a Cub cowl.  It was pretty nasty but cleaned up nicely.

Bruce had a guy down in North Carolina do the fuselage for him.  The workmanship is outstanding.

The guy also did the wings, so the Cub will probably fly this fall.

The Ace wings still need covering.
