May 27, 2008 - Spinner |

I'm just really burned out on the baffles. I decided to work on the spinner. I had previously marked with a template where the prop holes need cutting out. I went ahead and did that. I drilled #30 holes about 1/4" inside the line all around the line. Then I used the dremel cutting disk to cut between the holes.
Then I used the dremel sanding
cylinder to smooth the edge. The sanding cylinder works great on the
fiberglass.

Then I went
to see how the spinner fit on the engine. Of course the first
time the spinner didn't even fit over the prop. I think I went
through three iterations of trim and fit before the spinner fit on the
prop.

I still have more trimming to do to get adequate spacing between the prop and the spinner. I also have to keep in mind that the prop rotates -- it is a constant speed prop, after all.
