June 19, 2008 - Fuel & Oil Hoses, Oil Temp |

I trial-fit the fuel hoses. This hose runs from the fuel pump to the carburator. The only issue here will be keeping the fuel hose an acceptable distance away from the exhaust pipe at the bottom of the screen. Van's supplies a heat shield to put between the two.
The fuel pressure line runs from the
fuel pump up to the manifold where there is a fuel pressure
sensor.

You really have to know what you are looking for in this picture. In the very center is the fuel pump inlet. A hose runs from there to the gasolator. However the prop governor mount is blocking a straight in approach to the fuel pump. I'm going to have to order a 45 degree fuel pump fitting from Vans. The supplied straight line fitting won't work. I'd also to mount the fuel flow sensor between the gasolator and fuel pump. Van's supplied the fuel hose but I'll need two smaller hoses. |

Next I trial fit the oil cooler
hoses. There is a To Cooler hose and a From Cooler hose. It
took me a little while to figure out where on the engine the ports
were.

||||||
In this picture you can see the From Cooler hose. It goes from the top of the oil cooler to the top port on the engine.
This is the To Cooler port which is the lower port on the engine.
Then I had to find out where the oil temperature probe went. It fit nicely in the oil cooler ports which through me for awhile. But I finally found the port on the oil filter housing.
