January 31, 2009 - Prop Nuts |

I spent most of my time today torqueing down the prop nuts, then safety-wiring them with the .041 size wire. It wasn’t too bad, just time-consuming. The prop wrench extension from Avery Tools and my Harbor Freight 3/8" female to 1/2" male adapter worked great with the torque wrench. I adjusted the torque to take into account the addition 3" from the extension. |

The six prop mount nuts are
safety-wired in pairs. It took me over two hours to safety-wire
these six nuts. I sincerely
hope I don't have to take the prop
off
again.

Bruce helped me with the Com antenna. I was having the hardest time getting the right flush machine screws for it. I ended up using some that Bruce had. So the antenna is finally mounted permamently. Bruce also helped me turn the prop blades, which were definitely hitting the spinner cover. I took them home and filed them down some more. | ||||||
