January 30, 2008 - Firewall Eyeballs |
I was determined to finish the firewall eyeballs. I started with the prop control cable by fastening it to the sub-panel bracket with an Adel Clamp, then running it through the firewall eyeball and screwing the eyeball together. One down, three to go. |
The Throttle and Carb Heat eyeballs required a spacer because of interference with the fuel pump reinforcement plate. I fashioned these .063 spacers using a big piece I had cut out of the Panel. |
I secured the Throttle, Mixture and Carb Heat cables to the sub-panel bracket with Adel Clamps and then ran them through their respective eyeballs. | ||||||
From top to bottom: throttle, carb heat, and mixture. Their placement is very close to that called for in the drawings. The steel eyeballs were a lot of extra work, and expense, but they look good and I'm happy with how they turned out. |
