October 11, 2009 - RVing and Soaring

The weather was great for flying today so Bruce and I hoped into the RV and zoomed out to the Flying Cow airpark for some soaring action.

Although there wasn't the classic cumulous clouds, there was lift.   Jan dropped me off in a strong thermal at 2000 feet and I quickly climbed to 3000 feet.  I stayed up for 2.5 hours.  At one time we had five pure gliders and the motorglider in the air.

As I was preparing ot land, the sun was just right, and I got this good shot of the Flying Cow with gliders on deck.

The wings on the RV are so short compared to those of the gliders.

The flight back from Jan's to Essex is always good.

Pimplico -- the horse racing track where they hold the Preakness -- is dead ahead with Baltimore in the background.

The Back River as we approach Essex Skypark.  The RV knows its own way home from here.
