January 28, 2006 - Riveting Forward Fuselage |
||||||
The lighting in my workshop isn't very good. That's me inside the forward fuselage, clecoing stiffeners to the bottom skin.
I also riveted the inner two stiffeners to the firewall angle.
Thankfully I was able to hand squeeze them.
|
||||||
Then I squeezed the aft end of the stiffeners to the support brackets. I had to be creative with the Main Squeeze and the rivet sets to be able to get it done.
Then I clecoed the bottom skin and stiffeners. Let the riveting
begin.

The view from the inside, prior to riveting.
Bruce came over and we started some serious riveting. My new roller stool made bucking from the inside so much easier. Bruce handles the gun like a pro.
And he loves doing it, too. Bruce isn't new to the aircraft building business. He has restored a bunch of planes including a Cessna 140, Cherokee glider, Schweizer 1-26 glider, Corben Junior Ace, a Citabria 7GCBC and a Pitts S1C.
Yeah, I love it to.
