January 27, 2006 - Squeezing Rivets |
||||||
I riveted the 1/8" rivets around seat side ribs that I could get to with the Main Squeeze.
The view from the inside. Notice that I havn't riveted the
nutplates on the seat side rib yet. In fact, I hadn't even drilled
the nutplate holes until today. The drawings don't even show them.
I just realized that the floor skins are screwed on and that all the
seat ribs have nutplates on the forward upslope.

Next I squeezed the rivets fastening the aft end of the baggage ribs to
the F-706 bulkhead. I could only squeeze the bottom two holes with
the Main Squeeze. I'll have to use the rivet gun on the top hole.

I wasn't able to hand squeeze any of rivets in the center baggage ribs.
The instructions say nothing about when to drill the fuel tank bracket. I figured I might as well do it now, while I have easy access. It's actually fairly complicated; you really have to study the drawings closely. On the other side of the skin are two spacers and a reinforcer angle. This picture shows everything pretty much except for the three inner rivets and bolting the bracket to the fuse.
