August 26, 2006 - Riveted the Cabin Frame

I put in 8 hours on the RV today.  First I spent a couple of hours prepping the components for priming.  Then I primed them with the Mar-Hyde rattle can.  The outside temperature was in the 80's so the primer dried very quickly.

The rattle can is fine for priming but I don't think it'll work for the interior final coat.  I'll be spraying the rattle can and every once in a while some big drops will go flying onto the material.  If that happens just once on the final coat, the finish is ruined.  I'll have to figure some other way to do it.

Next step was to rivet the center strap to a forward channel half.  I was able to use the Main Squeeze on all the flush 4-5s.
Then I riveted the other forward channel to the center strap.
I clamped the forward channel to the flat boatd, then riveted the inner and outer strips to the forward channel.
I found it easier to squeeze the rivets with the assembly in the vise.
Then I riveted the aft channels to the center strap.  Amazingly, I remembered to include the angle.
Finally, I pop-riveted the forward and aft channels together.  No problems except for developing a blister on my thumb!

The cabin frame is complete.  Next step is to attach it to the fuselage.
