September 24, 2006 - Forward Upper Fuselage

I felt bad I haven't worked much on the RV this month so I spent most of Sunday on the project.

I started off by drilling the F-697 Channel -- also called the hat-section, no idea why at this point --  to the center subpanel using the center subpanel pre-drilled holes as a guide (with sharpie marked lines on the F-697 flanges visible through the holes).

Then I drilled the Forward Fuselage Channel to the center sub panel and hat-section.
Next I clecoed the F-644 left forward fuselage channel.  Why only the left?  Here's the deal.   A few weeks ago, I fabricated what I thought were the F-644s.  But I had actually used the stock of the F-746 engine cable control brackets.  But I realized I had made a mistake, found the F-644 stock, and made the correct F-644s.  Except that I totally blew it on the second one and ruined the piece.

So I just finished ordering replacement F-746 and F-644 stock from Vans.
Next I clecoed on the forward fuselage ribs.
Finally I clecoed on the outboard subpanels.
