January 20, 2006 - F-704 Bulkhead |
The instructions never really tell you when to do what to the main F-704 bulkhead. This is the last time I'll have easy access to it so I decided to take care of it now. There are twelve empty holes on the forward bulkhead side that I fastened with AN4-12a bolts.
I combed over the center section making sure I didn't miss anything.
The 12 AN4-12a nuts after torqueing. .
Then I bolted on the control support brackets. I'll just use blind
rivets on the bottom skin where the brackets block bucking bar access.
Then I inserted and torqued the two AN4-32a bolts and their 1 7/16" spacers. The F-704 bulkhead is pretty much ready to go.
Next I turned my attention to the center fuse corner rib and seat side ribs. Although you can't see it, I inserted the spacer block between the aft wing spar "fork" and put an AN-3 bolt through the side rib, fork, spacer block and F-705 rib.
The view from th eother side. You can see the end of the AN-3 bolt sticking out.
The final accomplishment of the day was to cleco the center fuse section
to the aft fuse and put the main longerons back on.
