November 20, 2005 - Center Fuselage

I spent most of the day prepping the seat and baggage ribs for riveting.  First I dimpled the seat and baggage rib holes.
The corner ribs were unusual in that the web portion gets riveted.  Also, the "straps" I fashioned earlier, go into each end of the corner ribs.  At this point, I'm not exactly what these "straps" are for.  I think they are just reinforcers for whatever goes through that hole you see to the left of the "A".  Anyways, I had to match-drill the holes in the straps, and trim a little of the corner off.
The other end.
Both corner ribs and their respective "straps".
It's hard to see in this image, but I had to remove part of the rib flange on a couple of the ribs.  These are for the bush-snappings on the F-704 bulkheads.   It was easy to do using my nibbler bit on the Dremel tool.
The plans call for a snap bushing hole in forward-most part of the rib.  I did that.  But some other builder's recommended putting snap-bushing holes at the same place in the seat ribs at the same location they are in the wing ribs.  So I did that as shown here.

With all the rib metal-work done, I was ready to prime.  The baggage ribs are alcad-covered, but the seat ribs were not so I wanted to prime them.  First I scuffed them up with scotch-brite, then I washed them in water, wiped them down with acetone to remove Sharpie markings, then primed them with Mar-Hyde.
