December 2, 2006 - Canopy Frame |
||||||
I took advantage of a group buy in the Vans Air Force forums and ordered a pair of 5-point Hooker Harness seatbelts. Got a nice price on them. I ended up getting silver grey interior with dark grey trim -- exactly the same thing we have in the Citabria.
Back to work. I fashioned some little shims to go under the
splice-plate between the forward canopy frame and side weldment.
It wasn't hard, just took some elbow grease with the Vixen file.
The drawings include dimension for the shim but I ended up just using
some scrap.

||||||
I inserted the shims and drilled the bottom flange of the forward canopy
frame, side weldment, shim and splice-plate. You can the shim if
you look carefully.

I countersunk all the holes.
I clamped everything back in place for one final fit check.
