January 10, 2007 -  Rudder Stops, Left Bottom Skin

I fashioned the rudder stops according to the drawings.  I really did a nice job on them, if I do say so myself.  The band saw really helps in making smooth, accurate cuts.  Still a lot of filing, of course.
You need the elevators to measure the rudder wing, so put the elevators back on and clamped them in the level position.   I think this is the first picture of all the empennage components on the airframe at the same time.
Lynnette said she'd help me rivet for awhile so we started riveting the left wing inboard bottom skin.
We just did about 20 or so rivets on the rear spar.  It was tough getting the bucking bar on them.  I had to reach through the butt rib holes or from the wing skin access ports.  We're proficient at it now though and the rivets all came out pretty well.  I started getting tired so we knocked it off.  It'll probably take two or three weeks to finish the left wing.  That's OK, there's no rush.  Plenty of other things on the plane to work on.
