January 11, 2007 - Crotch Bracket Nutplates, Rudder Stops |
I installed the right angle nutplates on the crotch strap brackets. Installing nutplates is not too exciting. It's just work.
Back to the rudder stops. I clamped the trim tab so it's level
with the left elevator.
I moved the rudder to the left until it was 1 1/8" from the elevator,
per the instructions.
Then I trail fit my rudder stop.
What's this? It's too short!
So, my perfect rudder stops are too short. It's no big deal to make longer ones. |
Unfortunately I only have enough angle left to make one stop. I'll have to order some more from Van's. Sigh. Actually, I'm not bothered by it at all. Setbacks like these are just part of building a plane in your basement.
