In a week moment, I bought this set of tools from the Rodman Tool Company booth at Sun 'N Fun for $125. You know, one of those booths, where the guy shows you how it slices and dices and cuts through titanium, yada, yada, yada. I bought it mainly because the hacksaw and drill bits supposedly go through steel like butter. I hope it works, I have spent hours hacksawing through steel.
I also bought this wingtip nutplate kit from Cleaveland Tools at their
booth -- van, actually -- at Sun 'N Fun. It includes the
nutplates, #4 stainless steel screws, rivets and a bit. The
only problem with the #4 screws is that I had to later order a #4 dimple
die set and a #4 countersink bit.

Epoxying aluminum strips on the inside of the tip edges. Van's doesn't tell you to do it, but I didn't think the glass would hold the pop-rivets and went ahead and did it.
The elevator tip edges were running into the elevator rib flange,
preventing a nice clean fit. So I trimmed some of the edge off
--along the line indicated by the yellow arrow. The dremel tool
and 1" cutting wheel works great for trimming the fiberglass.

First you drill using a #40 bit.
Then drill using #30. | ||||||
I used West System epoxy to fasten the aluminum strips to the fiberglass. I just bought the pumps; they rock! I mix cotton flox in the epoxy to thicken it; makes it easier to work with.
