February 10, 2008 - Prime Baffles, Emp Tips

I finished edge-smoothing the last of the baffle parts, scotch-brited the Alcad so the MarHyde would adhere, washed them and then primed.  It was still relatively warm for February -- 50 degrees.

I've done about all I can on the baffles.  I can resume work on them when the engine is mounted, hopefully in March.

I had riveted this horizon stabilizer tip previously.  However, looking at the rivet heads, I was shocked to discover that some of them were not flush.  I must have dumped some universal pop-rivets into my flush pop-rivet brown paper bag.  Nothing to do but drill them out.  Doing that ruined the backing strips so I had to redo them.  Oh well, it's not the first time I've had to backtrack on the project.

You can be sure I double-checked that the pop-rivets I used this time were all flush.

I pop-riveted the HS and Elevator tips.  They came out well.  All that's left is to build up the HS tips a little so they are on the same level as the elevator tips.

I did a second round of Rage Gold on the rudder bottom tip.  It's ready for a primer coat.
