8 August, 2006 - Chesapeake Bay Tour in the Citabria

The weather Tuesday afternoon was really nice, so I headed out to the airport after work and fired up the Citabria.  I hadn't flown down the west coast of the Bay for a long time, because it's within the ADIZ, so I decided to do that.  I just filed to Annapolis and back without landing.

Mountain Road airport.  This is where our Citabria resided when we bought it in 97.  There were probably 8-10 planes based there at the time.  Now there is only one.
Some guy built a house on this island without getting the proper permissions  -- which he probably would have never been able to get.  I wonder how it turned out?
I flew almost to the western end of the Severn River before I had to turn back because of the BWI Class Bravo airspace.  Now I'm heading East towards the bay.
Some nice houses on the northern shore of the Severn.
A couple of big estates.
Good shot of the U.S. Naval Academy.
The Naval Station across the river from the Naval Academy.
An aerial shot of Cantler's Riverside Inn, where the family and I like to go for a dinner of crabs and seafood.
Another look at Cantler's.  I had no idea it was on a peninsula.  Things look so much different from the air.
Heading north, looking east at the Bay Bridge.
