May31, 2009 - Xenos Rear Spar

I offered to help Bruce out with the Xenos and am building the wings for him.  The Spars were done when he bought the project.

I started with the rear spars.  Basically you join three channel pieces together with splices and reinforcers.  Here, I'm drilling the reinforcer to the inboard rear spar channel.  I had previously prepped and primed everything.

Aligning the center channel with the inboard channel.  Obviously, it's important for them to be straight.  But they are very long.  The laser line tool was perfect for this job.

From the opposite end.

Match-drilling the reinforcer -- which has pre-drilled starter holes -- to the center channel.

Now aligning the outboard channel with the center/insboard channel.

I riveted the spar reinforcer to the inboard and center channel using AN-460 4-6 rivets.  Easy to do with the Main Squeeze.

The spar splice fastening the center and outboard channels.

So the rear spars are done.
