March 26, 2005 - Right Wing

It's time to align the aileron.  I just clamped a piece of angle aluminum to the outer rib, using the alignment holes in the rib.
The idea is to have the straight edge bisect the trailing edge of the aileron, as seen her.  You adjust the aileron by adjusting the aileron pushrod that goes from the aileron control horn to the bellcrank.  Obviously, it's important to have your aileron aligned correctly, but it's not terribly difficult.
Another view.
Drilling the flap hinge to the flap brace.  You want the flap trailing edge aligned with the aileron trailing edge.  Easier said that done.  There's no easy way to clamp the undrilled hinge to the flap brace for the initial holes.  Also, the flap brace is supported by the bottom skin, but the bottom skin gets in the way when you are match-drilling the hinge.  All in all, I think the flap trailing edge alignment came out good but not great.
At some point, I realized I needed to hang the bottom skins and drill them to the flap brace and flap hinge.  I did that.  This is the first time the entire wing is together, including flap and aileron.
