February 23, 2005 - Right Flap

I took the fuel tank off the wing.  Because the tanks were pre-built, the instructions really don't tell you exactly what to do.  But it was easy enough to figure out.

The first thing I did was drill the skin holes (that go on the spar flange) to #19.  Then I dimpled them with the 509-8 dimple die.

A better look at the dimpled fuel tank skins.
Back on the wing goes the fuel tank.  I screwed the tank to the wing spar flange so that it was tight to the wing spar.  Then I match-drilled the fuel tank to the joiner plate with #19.
This blurry image is of the wing spar web bottom.  I'm match-drilling the fuel tank Z-brackets but drilling up through the spar web.  I used a #12 bit, since AN-3 bolts go through these holes.
Then, off comes the fuel tank again.  You can see the holes in the Z-brackets.
