February 15, 2005 - Right Wing

After modifying the wing jig, it was time to move the right wing to the jig.  Once again, I took the car jack out of Miata -- just bought new tires for it so hopefully I won't have a flat while the jack is being used to support the right wing -- and set up the wing support structure.  I used C-clamps on each corner of the wing to keep it in proper alignment.  I used a string and plumb bob on each end to ensure there was no twist in the wing.  You can see the white string in the foreground.  Everything looks good.
Before I can hang the top skins, I have to fashion the inboard skin doubler -- so that when you step on the wing to get into the plane, you don't put a big dent in your wing!

I had to cut the doubler with the snips, then match-drill it to the top skin.  Lot of holes but no big deal.
The top, inboard skin and the doubler clecoed to the wing structure.
Both the inboard and outboard top skins are on.  Next I drilled the bzillion holes out with the #40 bit.
