June 16 - Evening Flight after Work |
||||||
The weather was a little iffy after work Tuesday but I decided to go for it. There was a high overcast and then a broken layer around 3000 feet. Over the eastern shore, however, the broken layer diasappeared, the air was calm and the flying was quite enjoyable.

||||||
The broken layer was still present to
the
north.
I had tested the TruTrak Pictorial
Pilot autopilot on Sunday. It had worked well but was not receiving
the GPS feed. Before takeoff, I adjusted the GPS setup so that it
would feed the autopilot. Now I tested it again with
it receiving the GPS track. It worked nice. The autopilot
picked up the current GPS track. If I wanted to change course,
I just turned the little knob on the Pictorial Pilot. The Pictorial
Pilot also has a turn and bank indicator which would be a nice backup if
the Dynon
failed.

I flew north a little over the broken layer. Although it looks fairly solid here, there were plenty of holes to descend through. I did some G testing in the horizontal plane, pulling 2.5Gs in right and left turns. The plane handled the G's much better than the pilot did! |
||||||
I headed south down the shore until I
reached Kentmoor, then did a
180.
|
||||||
Even though it was still day, the overcast made it relatively dark. Cars had their headlights on coming across the Bay Bridge. | ||||||

Highway 50 heading to the east. I logged two hours today. Hobbs meter is up to 19. |
