September 4, 2004 - Wing Skins |
||||
I hung the outboard top skin, then match drilled all the holes. I am beginning to understand why builders buy the pneumatic cleco thingamajigs; putting in and taking out all those clecos gets old after awhile. Because I have a small compressor, I can't use the pneumatic drill, and have to use a heavy electric drill. I hold it with both hands so it isn't so bad. There was no guidance given on how high to make the forward spar brackets. I put mine around 60 inches high off the floor. This turned out to work really well. I could comfortably drill the top holes standing up. And I could also comfortably drill the bottom holes sitting in a chair. |
