July 11, 2004 - Wing Rear Spars

On to something new! Now it's the rear wing spars. First step, smooth the edges.
My edge smoothing tools: the edge scraper and emery cloth. The rear spars are too long to use the bench grinder with scotch-brite wheel which is the preferred way to get a nice smooth edge quickly.
Next I have to trim the ends of these reinforcer plates. Out comes the trusty hacksaw.
Action shot using the hacksaw.
Some of the trimming is too minor for the hacksaw so I use the vixen file instead.
Reward for a job well done: a delicious looking BLT.
