August 25, 2009 -  Work "Team Building" Event

On a beautiful afternoon, my team at work took off for our quarterly "team building" event.  Previous events were bowling, and watching the Blue Angels from boats.  Today would be a combination boating-aviation event.   Location -- Kentmorr marina and airfield.  I flew the RV over to Kentmorr with Bill B.  Newman and J-Mac drove their boats over to the Marina with the others.

Front row L to R:  Joe A., Bill B. Newman, yours truly.  Back row L to R:  J-Mac, Erika

We had a great lunch of crabs, clams, shrimp, corn on the cob and cole slawat the marina restaurant.  The beer was flowing freely as well.  Except for moi, who had to stick to pink lemonade for obvious reasons.

The Joes and the Bills.

Newman and some homeless guy who was hanging around.  Actually, it's E.D., an honorary member of the team.

The marina is really nice.  They have a sandy beach area, grass and a playground.  Here we are with the Chesapeake Bay in the background.

The two boats.

After lunch, the two boats pulled out and parked off the end of the grass runway to watch me take off.  Here's J-Mac.

Onboard Newman's boat.  About this time they are saying, where the hell is Cloughley?

There he is!

This great shot is actually a snapshot off a video that J-Mac took, zoomed in.

No one on the team had seen the plane before so I gave them a little demo.

He's going vertical ...

What goes up must come down ..

High speed low pass.

Low speed low pass.

After the demo, I headed back to Essex Skypark and the boats headed back to their home marinas.  Great day!

I didn't take any pictures from the RV so I borrowed these from a Citabria driver friend who took these Kentmorr pics recently.

This is what Kentmorr looks like coming in to land on 27 to the west.

Kentmorr is an airport community.   Notice the houses on the south side of the runway.

And a view from the eastern side.

The marina and restaurant are about 100 yards to the south of the runway.

Looking to the north.  The grass runway is blocked from view by the trees.
