September 10, 2005 - Navy vs Stanford Football Game |
||||||
This isn't related to flying but we had such a great day that I thought
I'd put it in. The U.S. Naval Academy played Stanford University at
Navy-Marine Memorial Stadium. My Dad is a Stanford Aluminus and has
had seasons tickets to the Stanford games for years. I'm a Naval
Academy grad so when they put this game on the schedule four years ago, we
started planning for it. The two teams havn't played in 50 years or
something like that.
So the day finally arrived. We had perfect weather for it. Navy's stadium has just been recently renovated and you can see they did a great job. This is the stadium about four hours before kickoff. |
||||||
Of course, half of the fun is the tailgate party! We had about 25
people, family and friends, and ate well and drank well before the game.
|
||||||
The time flew by and all to soon it was time to head into the stadium to
see the "march-on". All 4,400 Midshipmen march onto the field in
company formation.
|
||||||
After a few cheers and the national anthem, they rush to their seats.
The game itself was very exciting. Both teams played well. There was lots of scoring including a kick-off return. The final was Stanford 41, Navy 38.
