September 7, 2005 - Tailcone

This is the WD-409 tailspring bracket that goes between the F-711 and F-712 bulkheads on the tailcone skin.  You're supposed to clamp it to the F-712 bulkhead and then drill it using the F-711 as a template.  I did that carelessly and you can see what happened.  The right 1/4" hole is too close to the edge.   Unfortunately, this piece is made up of steel tube and sheet welded together and costs 40 bucks.  I'm surprised it's only 40 bucks, actually.  There's nothing to do but order a replacement part from Van's.
I cut out the "mousehole" in the tailcone skin.
