June 13, 2009 - Big Flying Day

I had the entire Saturday to fly and for once both the plane and weather cooperated.  I flew around the eastern shore for awhile then rendezvoused with Mike Regen at 6000 feet over Ridgely Airport.  I havn't seen Mike's RV since painted it and put the decals on.  As you can see, it looks great!

The weather was fabulous.

MIke took a few shots of me; first time I've seen my plane in the air.

My RV flies well but definately needs the gear fairings, wheel paints, the painting finished and a repolish.

MIke and I flew over to Georgetown and got the $100 hamburger.

MIke headed for home.  My goal was to fly five hours today so I still had some flying to do.

Here I'm flying over my sister-in-law's community on Kent Island.

Overhead the famous Red Eye Dock Bar and marina.

I had never been to Cape May -- southern tip of New Jersey.   It's in my test area so I headed over there.  Here I'm over Cape May airport.  There were 20+ large, multi-engine airplanes down there.   Probably part of their museum which I need to visit some day.  Couldn't stop today;  have to log hours if I'm gong to fly to Oshkosh.

Looking northeast at the Atlantic Ocean and the Jersey shore.

Looking north.  I was surprised to see so much development down there since it's a fairly remote area.

There were cumulous clouds all day long.  I always enjoy having the clouds around as opposed to just clear blue sky.

Today was the first time I was really able to get out and enjoy the RV for a significant amount of time.  I logged five hours.

I don't have any pictures, but I logged another five hours on Sunday bringing the Hobbs meter up to 17.
