May 29, 2008 - Match-drilled Spinner Holes |
||||||
Next item of business with the spinner is to drill it to the mounting plates. First I have to drill the holes in the spinner. With the spinner on the airplane, I marked on the spinner where the mounting plates flanges were. Then I took off the spinner and marked out six evenly spaced spots for the front mounting plate. I used the "tape" method to evenly space them. I really took my time doing this and triple-checked my work before drilling. |

The bottom was a little different in
that you have 14 holes, seven on each side. I evenly spaced the
seven holes using the tape method
again.

After the spinner holes were drilled,
I match-drilled the spinner to the mounting plates using the spinner as a
template.

It came out pretty well. Notice how translucent the spinner is and how well you can see the mounting plates. | ||||||
A close up. | ||||||
