July26, 2008 - Started Airbox
Started working on the airbox, which will hold the air filter, and bolt to the carburator bottom.
First order of business is to work on the mount plate. The particular carburator that I have has a protrusion on the aft end, so I have to cut out part of the mount plate.
Because there are so many different
engine combinations, Vans' doesn't provide a template. I used a
piece of paper to trace out the protrusion, then transfered it to the
mount plate. Then I started cutting with the drill and Dremel
tool.
An hour or two of filing later ...
it's
done.
Unfortunately I can't find the
hardware that came with the airbox kit. Don't know if Vans didn't
sent it or I misplaced it. I'll just have to order it from Vans
which means waiting a couple of weeks. Oh well, no lack of other
things to work
on.
