January 10, 2009 - Hang Rudder |
||||||
I had tried mounting the Com antenna when Mike was helping me but didn't have the cork gasket that goes between it in and the airframe. So I found that at home and tried again. This time the screws I had were not long enough. I mounted it temporarily with some short screws.
Bruce had painted the spinner gap
filler covers for me and I clecoed them to the spinner mount
plate.
|
||||||
I want to make sure one last time they don't interfer with the full range of prop movement before I rivet them.
Finally, the rudder is on the
airplane.
|
||||||
I still need to put on the rudder bottom tip. I installed washers and nuts on the bolt hinges and marked with torque seal.
I also permanently installed the elevator trim tab -- whose bottom is now gloss black.
I bent the hinge wire and safety-wired it to the elevator. It isn't coming out.
For fun, I hooked the rudder cables to
the rudder
horn.

Bruce gave me this rolling tool stand. There is not much table space in the hangar and I was wasting a lot of time searching for tools. This really helps. I should have got something like this five years ago when I started the project.
