May 31, 2010 - Family Day at the Flying Cow
We had family day at the Flying Cow gliderport on this Veteran's Day.
| ||||||
Guinevere had a nice flight in her Mistral.
I had a nice hour flight in the K8 glider, then gave my nephew and newphew-in-law rides in the RV. I think it was the first time either had been in a small aircraft.
Jayson looking skeptically at the RV. "How many hours did you say this has flown so far?"
"I can't believe I am doing this."
He looks calm but inside he is terrified.
"Yes! It's over and I'm still alive!"
Actually, Jayson enjoyed the flight. I gave him the
"scenic ride", not the "thrill ride".
Ray brought some of his radio-controlled planes. The Extra is in fact Huge! But the little ME-109 -- electric-powered -- was fun to watch fly too. At one point Ray tried a hammerhead stall in the 109 but it tail-slid on him, which turned into an inverted spin. He pulled out about five feet off the ground headed into some tall trees, but had the presence of mind to roll upright and save the plane.
You can see now how big the Extra is.
Amelia took his nice picture of the Flying Cow's runway.
And this. | ||||||
This is the inside of the outhouse door. I've been coming to the Flying Cow for 10+ years and never noticed it.
