June 6, 2005 - Fuselage Firewall |
||||||
| I got tired of sawing aluminum with the hacksaw so I started clecoing all the stiffeners and reinforcers to the aft side of the firewall. Some of the pieces required a little filing but not a whole lot. The matched-hole pre-drilling is simply amazing. The firewall itself is surprisingly thin stainless steel. The thingamajigs on each corner are steel and are where the longerons attach. | ||||||

| This piece, fabricated from a rectangular sheet of .063 aluminum, will reinforce the firewall where the brake reservoir attaches. | ||||||
