June 6, 2005 - Fuselage Firewall

I got tired of sawing aluminum with the hacksaw so I started clecoing all the stiffeners and reinforcers to the aft side of the firewall.  Some of the pieces required a little filing but not a whole lot.  The matched-hole pre-drilling is simply amazing.  The firewall itself is surprisingly thin stainless steel.  The thingamajigs on each corner are steel and are where the longerons attach.
More things clecoed on.
Back to sawing aluminum.
Hi Mom.
This piece, fabricated from a rectangular sheet of .063 aluminum, will reinforce the firewall where the brake reservoir attaches.
