April 6, 2006 - Rivet Baggage Side Panels |
||||||
Before riveting the baggage area side panel, there were some rivets in that area that I wanted to replace or tap a little more with the rivet gun. Originally I had riveted these rivets with the rivet set on the left below. Since then, I discovered that there are cases where the rivet requires a little more force and that the rivet set on the right does much better. In fact, the 1/8" flush rivets require the rivet set on the right to get the shop head to meet spec. | ||||||
After Lynnette and I touched up some rivets, I clecoed on the side panel
as shown.

Then I riveted it to the airframe. It took three kinds of rivets.
The top three rivets are pop-rivets. I pop-riveted the top side. I
squeezed 4-4 flush rivets on the right side. And the left side
gets "nut-plated" to the side bulkhead. The bottom holes are left
open for now.
