February 25, 2006 - Rear Upper Fuse Skin |
||||||
Lynnette bought me a nice, straight 8 foot 2x4 and with that I was able to knock out the fuselage stand. It will keep the fuse 21" off the ground, which will make it a little easier for me to lean over the sides and work on the fuse inners.

A dog's perspective. | ||||||
It was time to start on the upper aft fuselage. I dimpled the
upper F-706 bulkhead and vertical spar holes. Then I riveted the
vertical spar to the bulkhead.
|
||||||
I had fashioned the upper J-stringers about a million years ago; it took me a couple of minutes to find them in my shop. I placed them in the bulkhead slots.
I figured out that the forward ends required trimming. If you are building an RV-7, do yourself a favor and avoid carpel-tunnel syndrome by making sure you trim enough off the J-stringer. I didn't and later had to uncleco the skin to trim more off the J-stringer. Notice that I did the sharpie mark down the center of the J-stringer for drilling through the skin purposes.
The left side of the rear upper fuse skin clecoed on.
The entire rear upper skin clecoed on. I havn't drilled the
J-stringers yet.

Looking forward. The J-stringers are drilled.
