August 18, 2006 - Cabin Frame

I don't have any photos, but I spent a few nights earlier in the week fashioning components out of angle for the cabin frame.  Some of the components were of thick .125 angle and had unusual trapazoidal shapes, so it took me awhile.  I had trouble with my band saw not cutting straight so I ended up doing a lot of filing with the vixen file.

Once that was done, I edge-smoothed the four channel pieces and cut the 1 1/2 inch holes in the aft channels.

I needed a flat surface that I could drill into for the channel work.  My workbenches are not even close to being flat.  But I looked at Dave web site and saw how he used a particle board on some sawhorses.  Perfect.  So I bought a 2'x4' particle board and started working on the channels.  First I drilled the center strap to the two channel pieces.

Using another Dave Parson suggestion, I drilled the channel flannels to #40 first.
