Labor Day Weekend Citabria Flight

The visibility today must have been 30+ miles.  The last time I flew the Citbria it was less than five miles.  Here, I'm headed east from Essex Skypark, seen at left.
Rocky Point golf course.  I once landed our Kolb UltraStar on the par-3 pointed to by the arrow when my engine quit on me.
Here I am on the eastern shore and I can easily see across the Bay.  this picture doesn't do the visibility justice; the western shore seemed so close!
P4I flew north up the eastern shore then turned west to follow the mighty Susquehanna River.  You can see the river entrance to the left of the nose.
The town of Havre De Grace.
A good shot of the Susquehanna.  One of those bridges is for I-95, heading north to Philly.
My destination was the Shreveport North, Pennsylvania, fly-in.  I was a little disappointed at the turnout.  With such nice weather, I thought there would be a lot more planes than this.  Maybe the high gas prices kept people from flying.
You don't see too many of these early generation Ultralights around anymore.  This is the classic Quicksilver.
A couple of RANS.
A Kolb.  I really liked the paint job on this one.  White and Royal Blue, with yellow pinstriping.  I'm considering painting my RV-7 something like this.
From another angle.  You can't really see the yellow pinstripes in this picture.  Take my word for it, it looked good.
A Challenger.
One of the nicest gyrocopters I've ever seen.
Check out this cockpit.
Looking south down the runway.
The Kolb climbing overhead.
You could get burgers and dogs at this trailer.
Most airplanes were gone by noon so I left too.  I had stayed low flying to the fly-in, but going home I climbed to 6000-7000 feet and played with the clouds.
Normally I don't like to go high, but today the visibility was so good, that I really enjoyed it.  This view is of the Chesapeake Bay, looking south from the north end.
The arrow points to a marshy area filled with a certain type of trees that are unbelievably colorful in the fall when the leaves turn.
I had a tailwind for a change.  The slowpoke Citabria is zooming at 124 mph over the ground.
The familiar view returning to Essex Skypark from the Eastern Shore.  Baltimore is on the left and Essex is on that dark green peninsula where the arrow is pointing.  Nice flight.
