Soaring at the Flying Cow Farm |
||||||
On Labor Day, Bruce and I along with our families headed out to the Flying
Cow Farm for a day of soaring and picnicking. First we had to assemble two gliders, Bruce's new (vintage) Scheibe SF-27 glider, and his Schleicher Ka-8. These vintage ships don't go together as quickly and easily as the modern glass ships. |

My Dad and Howard supervising the assembly. Or are they just swapping flying stories? That's the Schleicher Ka-8 in the background.
Break time! Putting gliders together is hard work.

Yours truly preparing to go flying in the Ka-8. I had a great flight -- 1.5 hours. I got up to 5,000 feet after getting off tow at 2,500.

Then I jumped into the Corben Baby Ace and flew around for a half an
hour, never getting higher than 500 feet.
