December 20, 2008 - Hang Ailerons and Flaps

I inserted the Odyssey batter into the battery box.  I wasn't sure I was going to be able to do it, given all the hoses, wire bundles and whatnot in the way.  Fortunately the battery is not that big and I finagled a way through. 
   
I hung the ailerons and permanetly installed the hinge bolts, washers, spacers and nuts. 
   
I cut the stanless steel hinge pins for the flaps and installed them. 
   
I went with the "center" approach for the flap hinge pins.  All that's left for me to do is safety-wire the two ends together and to the wing itself.

I bolted the forward spar to the fuel tank bracket on both sides.

I torqued the main AN-7 and AN-4 spar bolts.  I installed the AN-4 bolts that screw into nutplates on the spar.  Builders have been known to forget about these four bolts; I can see how easy it would be to forget.  I installed the nutplates over four years ago when I was building the wing.
