December 8, 2007 - Wiring SL-60 DSubs

I finally got going on wiring up the SL-60 Com/GPS.  I had bought it used and it didn't come with a wiring harness.  It didn't come with the Installation guide either but I had obtained that some time ago.  Without it I'd have been lost.  It turns out that wiring up the SL-60 would be fairly simple.  Because I'm not hooking the GPS to an HSI or anything, all it needs are power and ground wires.  The Com only needs power, ground, Mic, Phone and Push-To-Talk (PTT) wires.

I started with the GPS D-Sub connector.  One wire for power, one for ground, and a jumper -- that's it.

The installation manual had everything I needed.  The SL-60s GPS is IFR-certified for en-route, and  if I had hooked it up to an HSI, things would have been much more complicated, of course.

This is the D-Sub connector for the Comm.  I started with the power and ground wires.
