December 29, 2007 - Shorten Sticks |
||||||
Whoops! My pilot stickgrip runs smack right into the throttle. Well, only if I'm at lower power and I want to turn to the right. How often is that gonna happen? I can live with it. |
||||||
Had you going there, didn't
I?
Nope, had to cut the push-to-talk and
elevator trim wires, pull off the sticks, and break out the hack
saw. I had to trim off a good two inches to get the pilots stick
grip to clear the throttle through the range of stick and throttle
movement.

||||||
I was probably a little too quick to wire up the stick anyways. I needed to widen the PTT and hat-switch holes so that the switches would fit down into them.
I ended up having to use the Dremel
to get the hat-switch to fit into the
hole.
|
||||||
Now both sticks pass underneath the control knobs no problem.
I'm trying to finish everything in the fuselage that I possibly can before moving it out of the basement and into the -- cold -- garage for engine and gear mounting. The next big area was to finish the empennage once and for all. So I broke out the horizontal and vertical stabs -- again -- and mounted them to the fuse. |
